I've looked at Aerogardens and similar contraptions a few times, but I was skeptical that I'd keep at it long enough to justify the cost. If only I could keep a basil plant alive!
@EllenInEdmonton I’ve had mine for four years, but I think most people stop using it after one planting cycle.
@EllenInEdmonton but the good news is that basil grows really well in them. And you can throw an existing stem in the machine, you don’t even need to start from seed.

It's possible that I'll spring for one at some point, but I suspect that I'd be one of those single-season users! Fortunately, my farmers' market has amazing veggies on sale throughout the winter months.

@EllenInEdmonton i treat mine as edible house plants. I really like having something growing on my desk, and it’s in a dark corner. So these work well for me.
