Scruffy looking packet herder@marymessall The ending is similar but not exactly the same. IMO the choices they made were good and it is an excellent adaptation. No significant changes as far as the plot goes. @mekkaokereke

I feel we need more classic inspirational SciFi. Man vs nature, overcoming both technical and social problems by working together. Dr Grace makes both good and bad decisions; a rare realistic human portrayal.

dstu@mekkaokereke I read the book with some friends a few years ago. We agreed it would make a better movie than book, but I'm withholding judgment until I see the movie.

I saw it in IMAX. Not sure if that enhanced anything, I think I would have enjoyed it the same in IMIN.

No spoilers, but I don't think it quite stands alone without the book. I highly recommend anyone who watches it have also read the book. Its great as a compliment to the book, not as a replacement for the book.
