Mikael MyyräEating lunch at campus today I overheard a lady excitedly describing somebody she'd met on a dating app. She kept telling her friends how he'd always read her messages and respond with something relevant and/or pleasant. And I'm like, is this how you impress somebody these days? Have a nice enough face to get clicks in a slot machine and then demonstrate first-grade reading comprehension? Certainly raised my self-esteem a bit, and confirmed I'm not missing anything by not using those apps lol
Speaking of lunch, I've also started bringing a little sketchbook and doodling things I see outside while I eat, which has made my lunch breaks very fun and also probably twice as long as before
Neotheta@molentum With all the attention-addiction shit that modern internet provides it's not surprising either.. but yeah typically the only skill you need for dating is to be kind and attentive.
@Neotheta That makes it sound real easy - I love listening because it means I don't have to talk, and talking is hard 😅 I think I'd find it pretty depressing to be with somebody whose only expectation for me is "has a brain that can respond to stimuli from its environment" though
@molentum The challenge is to find someone who's also willing to be attentive and kind (and is interested). But there is also of course the component that you have to show interest actively (usually by talking/initating) because everyone else is also shy/unsure.
Saying this makes me wonder how I managed to succeed ever myself, but it helps being a furry cause cats get to know eachother by silently being in the same space while not making eyecontact and that's exactly what I did XD
@Neotheta Yeah, that's the part that's still a complete mystery to me. I applaud your success, whatever the methods (if it's stupid and it works etc :P ), maybe one day I'll join you in wondering how the hell it happened instead of how the hell it could happen
