@jgoerzen One additional point I'll add here is all of the current strong models incorporate training material for which they did not acquire rights. I think the basic bet the companies are making is to get too entrenched to regulate faster than the regulators catch up. I don't think it's an intrinsic property of LLMs as a technical approach, but it's true for every competitive model today.
