The New York Times writes this whole story about this without mentioning that Trump billionaire donor Larry Ellison owns the CBS Sports rights to the Army Navy game, which is being threatened by competing broadcasts owned by ESPN/ABC/Disney.

President Trump issues executive order aimed at protecting Army-Navy Game’s solo time slot

The move to a 12-team College Football Playoff in 2024 created issues for Army-Navy, which takes place after CFP selections are made.

The Athletic
same over at the Associated Press: no mention that Trump is exploiting pseudo-patriotism to help a billionaire ally (and owner of CBS) fend off competition from other broadcasts (kind of central to the story)

Trump's executive order bars CFP from conflicts with Army-Navy game

President Donald Trump has issued an executive order barring College Football Playoff and other postseason games from airing during the annual Army-Navy matchup in December. Trump directed the commerce secretary and the FCC chairman to coordinate with the playoff committee, the NCAA and media rights partners to ensure an exclusive broadcasting window for the storied rivalry traditionally played the second Saturday each December. Trump’s order makes reference to potential expansion of the CFP that likely would require an earlier start for the playoff. In the first two years of the 12-team format, the first-round games were the weekend after Army-Navy.

Same (of course) over at CBS, which talks a lot about "tradition" and "national service" but not that this executive order primarily aids the interests of a top donor

I'm really fascinated by this sort of pseudo-journalism corporate America now churns out that pretends to be useful and informative, but generally exists as a sort of simulacrum, comically avoiding central parts of stories that might threaten billionaire or corporate power
the outlets above also fail to mention that this EO is likely meaningless and unenforceable, and Trump can't just magically wave his hand to impact the choices of privacy company scheduling organizations also just not deemed relevant to them
also many of the competing games are on ESPN (cable) and not broadcast, making them exempt from broadcast public interest obligations, which doesn't even matter because the EO isn't enforceable anyway and the president is insane none of which is mentioned by "news" outlets
it's so weird living in a country being devoured by corporate greed and artifice where everything is made out of thin, damp paper mache then slathered with gold spray paint
