A propos of nothing.

I am now (un)officially under-18! Updated #iPhone. Tried to register the new age verification reqs as part of #OnlineSafetyAct but #Apple ONLY permits driver's licence or credit card, (not passports). I have neither. 1hr with Apple Support - no possible solutions other than get driver's licence / credit card (or buy a National ID card).
So now, no Apple Pay, ITVX, iPlayer, gaming apps or much else until Apple change their verification criteria.
Oh well!

ps - not a criticism of the Online Safety Bill or Apple itself; I am not interested in anyone's political rants from either side. I left X and Facebook to avoid political rants. Just stating what a bind I'm in.
@hastingsmothman how very American of them to expect everyone to have a driver's license but very few people to have a passport
@trainguyrom Very American. I'm not sure Apple understand people in the UK. It seems to have blown up bigtime. I'm not the only person who doesn't drive and doesn't borrow money on credit cards.
@hastingsmothman I wonder what they will do about Freeview? As you need an account to watch the iplayer, they ought to have age verification on that too.
@jtb Not sure how Freeview works tbh and whether you can watch it on an Apple device. But if you can, I guess that won't work either if you can't verify your age with Apple because you have neither a credit card or driver's licence. If I had a normal TV I could watch BBC, ITV etc to my heart's content. But we don't. Any odd bits of TV we watch is through mac or phone. But no longer possible.
@hastingsmothman Do you still have access to free porn sites? ;-)
