“Go socialize with your friends.”

“All my friends are in different parts of the world and we socialize by talking or playing games online.”

This was me in the 90s. I can’t imagine it being different for a lot of kids today. Even if these bans weren’t thinly veiled surveillance methods, I’d still be opposed to it.

It will be different when they‘re forced to socialize IRL. Because now all the other kids are not online 24/7 either. This supposed problem is solving itself. I‘m a little more concerned about their lack of experience with the medium once they‘re allowed to use it. Then again a lot of them will use it anyway but even less supervised than before.

You clearly haven’t grown up in a small, rural area where you have nobody IRL to socialize with.

Or in a situation where socializing with kids your age mostly meant being bullied.
