Been listening a lot to KEXP lately, and this week they have been running a continuous "Six Degrees" week, where every single song they play has some kind of link (musician, producer, cover version, whatever) to the previous song. It's incredible. Earlier I heard a DJ, over several hours, move song by song from Einsturzende Neubauten to Boys II Men.
Seems that each DJ nominates what the first song of their show will be, and the previous DJ on air has to make it to that point.
@jimbob Mornington Crescent for music.
@futzle @jimbob ... there's a show on 3RRR that does this weekly - Superfluity. They are currently on break, but you can get back episodes here https://www.rrr.org.au/explore/programs/superfluity

@jimbob Ohhh, which show was that? I heard the DJs talking about that coming up the other day.

One of my fave shows is Larry Mizell's OG Thursdays for the Afternoon Show, which is *extremely* close in spirit to the Six Degrees week by default. Entire playlists following samples or production history song to song. His show honoring Bob Power the other week was incredible.

Nice crossover yesterday hearing some Triple J Like a Version tracks on their playlist.

@tootstorm that section specifically was on the show of some guy called Atticus, but OMG Larry Mizell is my hero, I've been listening to his show a lot the last few weeks and he is so great
@jimbob Ahh, that was the premise of Superfluity on 3RRR. Sadly they retired the show last year, but there should be something like 13 years of archives to listen back to. https://www.rrr.org.au/explore/programs/superfluity/
