Why isn't technology or science close to being this advanced today? - Lemmy.World
If it was possible to replace somebody’s mind (brain) in the same manner as having a heart transplant, how would that kiind of technology really work even if it existed? That means disconnecting the old brain from all the nerves, blood vessels and spinal cord and implanting a new brain into them without losing their core functions keeping them in-tact. Now the doctor has the task on reconnecting all the nerves, blood vessels and the spinal cord, but the question remains: would it still be them or someone else? Would they still have all their senses? Would they regain their basic functions? Are they abled bodied or now a vegetable? Would they possess someone else’s toughts? Does that mean taking immunosuppression drugs for the rest of their life?
