Arm rolls its own 136-core AGI CPU to chase AI hype train

Despite the hypemaxxed branding, the chip’s Arm Neoverse V3 cores won’t be running AI models themselves. That’s a job for GPUs or one of the growing number of high-end AI ASICs. Instead, Arm sees its first datacenter CPU powering AI agents. In this respect, the chip will compete directly with Nvidia’s standalone Vera CPUs and rack systems detailed at GTC last week.

So the AGI CPU branding is basically false.

: Turns out artificial general intelligence was a CPU this whole time

The Register

I hate that the AI assholes have begun branding everything AGI now. LLMs are not AGI, LLMs are never going to be AGI. Maybe some day a part of an AGI system is LLM like, but without the rest of the machine that does not exist, that’s basically meaningless.

And the press just eats it up and throws it out there. No critical note at all. Just let the tech bros spout nonsense and the general people be uninformed. Fuck those guys, they should be in jail for blatently lying all the time just to pump their stocks.

Just like how every script with an IF statement is now AI. These words are becoming meaningless
