I was kind of a loner in high school. Scrawled NIN lyrics on my notebooks and such.

Concerned, my Japanese language teacher pulled me aside to ask if I was OK when she saw I’d scribbled the following:

なんのためにうまれて
なにをしていきるのか
こたえれないなんて
そんなのはいやだ!

(“Why were we born? What’s our purpose for living? How awful not to have an answer!”)

That’s a verse from the Anpanman March, the cartoon theme song.

(Granted, it’s kinda heavy subject matter for a kids’ tune.)

@RobinMarx “We’re worried that your son may be feeling isolated and vulnerable.. his only friends appear to be Love and Courage.”
@nosword “Then again, some bean paste might also cheer him up.”
