If you want to (re)watch The Mandalorian leading up to The Mandalorian & Grogu movie release, start watching half a season per week (including The Book for Boba Fett, which is basically The Mandalorian Season 2½)! #StarWars #TheMandalorian #TheMandalorianAndGrogu
If you want to chat with fellow nerds about it, I have a little Discord server: discord.gg/Gfbbd3muW?ev... For the next couple of months, we’re just planning to do informal/async watchathon following that schedule. #StarWars #TheMandalorian #TheMandalorianAndGrogu

Okay, watching The Mandalorian s01e01 tonight 🍿
Written by Jon Favreau, directed by Dave Filoni. It's a lot of fun, and feels very “playing with action figures” which I remember Jon and/or Dave saying. Honestly, this is making me more hopeful for the movie. Jon Favreau can do good work. 😆
I want to know so much more about the backstory here tho! Like who wants Grogu dead?? IG appears to have had a different bounty than Mando, as Mando’s was alive (or dead if required). If Moff Gideon or Palps is trying to make Force-sensitive clones, why would they want Grogu dead??
And who are the Nikto who had Grogu?? What were they doing with him? Were they protecting him? If they were trying to cash in, they wouldn't have holed up and defended him from multiple bounty hunters… I get that not everything needs to be explained, but I want to know this backstory!!
Okay watching The Mandalorian s01e02 tonight lol 🍿
lol at Mando casually chucking a Jawa to their death
So like, these Jawa have red eyes. Are they the same as the ones on Tatooine, or a subspecies, or just use different tech, or…?
The Egg!
Very, “Bring us a shrubbery!”
The music in s01e02 gets pretty funky; I love it.
Also, wow, some of these vfx do NOT hold up. I wonder if we were all distracted by the original story (which is fine!) and so didn't notice the jank, or what. But Mando on the sand crawler & fighting the mudhorn both had “oh wow that’s composited/CG” moments. Huh.
For how much crap other Star Wars shows got, I feel like I never heard this complaint for The Mandalorian?
I genuinely think it's that The Volume was new so people couldn't spot it as easily. But like, almost every other shot in this episode is pretty obviously done in The Volume. Again, I think this is fine! It allowed the crew to make a story they otherwise wouldn't have been able to do.
But I think we've gotten better at spotting it. If this season came out in 2024 or later I think it would have had all the nerds complaining about The Volume.
“I have spoken.”
Okay fine The Mandalorian s01e03 🍿
“Unfortunately finding a Mandalorian in these trying times is more difficult than finding the steel.” Holy shit, Herzog, just rubbing the Night of 1,000 Tears in a Mandalorian’s face?? Balls of beskar.
I love that they turned a random background ice cream maker prop into a Super Serious container of spoils. starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Camtono

Camtono

A camtono also known as a camtono bag was a kind of security container for storing valuables. Notable users of camtonos included "the Client," Cobb Vanth, Willrow Hood and the Pyke Syndicate. The camtono was a cylindrical box consisting of a fixed frame, three movable panels hinged at the bottom and locked shut at the top, and a "lid" part. That lid boasted control buttons and a rotary cylindric piece featuring a handle. Buttons disengaged the locks, causing the side panels to fall open and...

The Clone Wars flashbacks make me want a live action show set during that era… they make the droids so terrifying in a way the movies and animated shows never did.
