The Toyota BZ4X has been refreshed with more range. In short, the "Pure" spec has 591 km WLTP range for $56,990. That's $16k less than the previous model and they're supposedly arriving to dealerships now. Very happy to see a really decent EV offering from Toyota at last. Tows 1.5 tonnes too.

@KiwiEV is this the same as the one that’s badged “bz” in other markets for 2026?

Because the reviews for the older 2025 BZ4X are pretty dire.

@dubh the 2026 bZ4x 2WD spec (WLTP 591km) for Aus/NZ is much improved over the 2023-2025 spec (436km). The USA spec FWD 2026 bZ is rated 314 mi (505km) (C&D https://www.caranddriver.com/toyota/bz) @KiwiEV
2026 Toyota bZ Review, Pricing, and Specs

The 2026 Toyota bZ drops two characters from its previous name but gains range, faster charging capabilities, and new styling.

@dubh @KiwiEV one interesting change for the US spec bZ is changing the black fender guards to body colour. Would like to see that propagated to the Aus/NZ spec. The black things give sort of 'soft road ute' vibes which La Trophy Housemate and I find unattractive, but would tolerate to get a Toyota BEV. TH's 2008 Corolla has just turned over 300,000km and we'd like to replace it soonish. 2026 bZ4x is our top candidate for an EV in the next 8-12 mos.
@weezmgk out of curiosity, why one of these over a Kia EV (if we restrict ourselves to legacy brands)? @KiwiEV
@dubh 25 years experience with Toyota products. We don't have any faith in Kia reliability. Our mecho won't work on them. They tend to bounce back for other repairs after he's worked on them. @KiwiEV
