no.
like, "omg the computer can talk!!!" was exciting content back in 2023. I don't know why it would be interesting now. probably you can prompt them 10 times and get different answers each time, that would at least be instructive about what's actually going on.
just did it three times for kicks and ChatGPT recommended different books each time, in different orders and for different reasons. what's the takeaway? I don't know, this is all so stupid lol.
it's so sad to see smart people tumble into this stuff. bro what are you doing.

@peter I wonder if we phrased it in terms of "LLMs are the cars of the 21st century", the Big Account Urbanists would get it.

Although Roberts in particular, he's supposed to be all about renewables and clean energy - how does _he_ justify using AI in particular? 🤨

@Andres4NY @peter on one episode he seemed swayed by a hand-wavey argument about how AI would help us accelerate climate solutions and also that the overall impact of AI infrastructure will only be minor compared to the major contributors. Heard similar weak examination of AI on an earlier episode. Disappointing for sure. I still like his show and appreciate much of his work.
@dgodon @Andres4NY yeah, he just doesn't appear to understand how it works at all. the Type of Guy who studied philosophy seems particularly vulnerable for some reason.
@Andres4NY @peter what irked me even more than his AI blind spot are his softball episodes (yes, two effing episodes) on California Forever with their CEO. This is one of those billionaire backed private cities. They’re dressing it up with a bunch of urbanist buzzwords and David just ate it up. Such a Charlie Brown response to the billionaire’s Lucy move
@dgodon @Andres4NY ugh, seriously?? those guys are just techno-fascists

@peter “cool question bro”

I feel like just asking the Fediverse the question would get dozens of well thought out answers from experts on the topic. And it wouldn’t cost any tokens!

@flyingsaceur and he got tons of great answers on Bluesky too! he has thousands of followers, idk man, there are so many ways to do this other than "ask the magic 8 ball doing linear algebra"

@peter he’s just gonna take the book that gets th le highest score and have the machine turn it into a podcast summary to listen to on the drive to his book club where nobody else read the book either

All for, what? Winning an argument about why he should be able to walk to Starbucks?
