Army raises enlistment age to 42, removes waiver for marijuana possession - Lemmy.World

Lemmy

I’m 40. I haven’t found full time work in a year. I might have to join. I don’t want to lose my house. Nobody will miss me if I die overseas.
yes, come murder us in the global south so you don’t have to deal with your own government.
I don’t want to hurt anyone. I’m hungry and I may be homeless soon. What’s the point of being moral if nobody will help me when I’m at rock bottom?
I hope you can find something, man. No money’s worth dying in a war for this regime but that’s easy to say. Maybe something entry level in business or something? I’m sorry the tech industry’s so awful
I’ve been applying to entry level jobs for months. I was a frontend developer and designer with ten years experience. I now have a PMP, PMI-ACP, and PSM I certifications. I have a resume with a high ATS score. I’ve only been met with silence from jobs. The only work I’ve found is working for a grocery store part time. It’s not covering my bills.
That’s so unbelievably fucked 🫂 honestly if you straight up have to turn to crime that’s valid absolute fucking lunacy people with this much exp can’t find any work I know I’m just a internet random but I hope things look up for you
My son graduated with a perfect 4.0 in a 5 year accelerated masters degree program in computer science. He got out just in time for the AI bullshit and has gotten exactly one interview and no offers in two years of applying everywhere. I’m so proud of the work he put in and so pissed that he got royally fucked over. If the job market even comes back I’m afraid he won’t be able to compete with fresh graduates with nothing but a big gap in his resume.
I’m in a similar situation as someone about to leave university (also in an accelerated 5 year Master’s program and just got my Bachelor’s but decided not to continue next semester for financial reasons) and the disconnect between the education system and job market is so bad, I almost feel like college made me stupider
Have you considered starting a revolution? That’s where my mind is these days.
