BREAKING: New Mexico jury finds Facebook, Instagram, & Whatsapp harm childrens’ mental health—orders Meta to pay a $375M penalty.
•$375M is .023% of Meta’s $1.6T net worth
•That’s like the median American being fined $14.37
•And in 2025 Meta paid only 3.5% tax on a record $79B US income

Horrid. Immoral. Criminal. American.

Shocked that Meta, which enabled the Rohingya genocide and faced no repercussions, is also harming the mental health of our children, and faces no repercussions. 😐 Smh.

@QasimRashid Meta is actively supporting genocide RIGHT NOW. NOW. This instant.
@QasimRashid No doubt they'll appeal regardless
@QasimRashid
You're assuming the conviction won't be overturned on appeal. Also, you're ignoring the fact that the 8th Amendment prohibits excessive fines.

Every large corporation must be broken up into tiny little teeny bits. The wealthy people that own shares in them need to be taxed back to earth.

Morbidly obese wealth needs to be cured

@GhostOnTheHalfShell @QasimRashid

Every large corporation must be broken up into tiny little teeny bits. Then those tiny little teeny bits needs to be doused with petrol and set alight. Then all the children may dance around the fires.

@QasimRashid This is an example of why we need equity fines, i.e. a corporate death penalty: https://znetwork.org/znetarticle/bleed-lawless-businesses/
@QasimRashid i'm just happy to see them take an L (that they'll appeal for a decade until 375m turns into 3.75m & some community service ads / mixers for politicians). Hopefully there's 49 more states lining up to get theirs if this serves as any precedent.

@QasimRashid

LOL!! $375 million --- I'm sure they were trying not to laugh when this number was announced.

They will happily pay that and keep doing it -- they don't care and only $375 million isn't going to make them think twice
