@Kels_316 If you're interested in entering a sector where everyone nods and goes "yes that does sound risky", then charges thousands of dollars for those nods, I can recommend EV charging fire assessments
@Kels_316 No one has the faintest idea what Good Enough is. Everyone can identify some big risks though!

@evcricket good lord, I can imagine the beard stroking.

I get asked a fair bit about EV fires when I run my fire training stuff. I just say 'stand back, that fucker is going to burn until it runs out of things that burn'

@Kels_316 Exactly. Someone yesterday wanted to add thermal imaging cameras to the depot and as soon as they detected something hot shut down the power to the site. "I reckon that might get annoying"
@evcricket I love technological solutions that cannot possibly work in the real world, but sound like something that can.
@evcricket like sometimes you have to accept you're in the bottom 1/3rd of the hierarchy of risk controls and that's just how it is.
@Kels_316 @evcricket yeah, or just use your brain/eyeballs properly for five fucking minutes. Hmm, a car charger is basically a big high voltage/current transformer, what do other people who run big high voltage/current transformers do for safety?
@neoluddite @Kels_316 "I see you've set 95kg of lithium on fire. Would you like help putting that out"
@evcricket @Kels_316 I have special shoes for lithium fires
@neoluddite @Kels_316 I had a pair of those exact shoes. Loved them
@evcricket For $100K I will provide the "Iced Coffee Only" signs.
@evcricket @Kels_316 "oh hi, Australian summer in a carpark"
