🕳️ The Waterloo & Victoria Tunnels, from Edge Hill district down to the Liverpool docklands.

Opened in 1849, they effectively form a single, continuous two-mile subterranean passage. Two distinct names based on their original hauling technology.

The tunnels were closed in 1972 due to the decline of the north docks and transatlantic ship travel, which rendered them redundant.

@ObsidianUrbex Your northern posts keep tempting me! Heading to Sheffield via Manchester in a couple of weeks and trying not to plan anything too dodgy, but Megatron is *right there* 😬🤣
@eejit
Ah never been down there myself, drains kinda scare me. Confined spaces and water, eeek😶

@ObsidianUrbex I'm the same normally, but Megatron always tempts me in Sheffield, maybe not after this much rain though.

That and George Barnsley, but haven't been there for years and I'm guessing it's either wrecked or sealed.

Something to look out for in summer...
