Anytime I get a job I have to check and double check my contract to make sure I'm not signing something forcing me to give up every single idea that enters into my head and assign it to the company paying my salary.

This despite the fact that half the time I'm useful at work it's due to knowledge picked up by hobby nonsense which I wouldn't have bothered with if I'd been forced to assign the IP to the company just so they could bury it forever.

Why oh why are most of my peers okay with this?
