@NeueWelle @heliomass so "Ranking" is a separate thing to proportionality as Australia demonstrates because for their senate they have a proportional ranked system (STV) like Ireland, for their lower house they have a non-proportional ranked system with single member ridings.
If your country is falling apart like the USA, take whatever win you can. Plain RCV is a system that creates stability and sacrifices dynamism.

@NeueWelle @heliomass I would hate to see non-proportional ranked choice in Canada because our issue is stagnation. When modelled it results in even more time with the Liberals running the county.
Proportional Ranked Choice (STV) has actually become my preferred system over the years. I think it's just the easiest thing to transition to from FPP and I like the multi-member ridings thing a lot.

@NeueWelle @heliomass when debating this stuff, like 90% of the time a supporter of First Past the Post will use arguments that can be beaten by suggesting STV, it beats:
- Local MPs are important
- Party lists are bad
- Ranked Choice is better
- Israel blah blah
- Massive fractured number of parties
Usually they didn't bother to look it up because a party person got to them first with some straw man propaganda about ProRep meaning Closed Party List ProRep (Which literally no-one is proposing)
