Repair or replace?
@rose repair, unless it's an hp. In that case, bury it, let it rest in pieces

@alfabravoteam It's an HP. To its credit, it lasted 15 years, and I was able to use 3rd-party toner cartridges with it. Seems unlikely with newer models.

We used to joke that HP stood for "high priced." Back in the '70s, I used to cut through their corporate headquarters in Palo Alto on my bike on my way to work every day.

@rose my first laptop was hp, back in 2006. Worked great for 10 years, just had to repair some soldering on the chipset pins. Before and after that model, all hp had issues with heat, either overheating or with exhaust right next to hinges, breaking them.

Last printer I had was an hp my gf bought, 5y ago. Cheap trash that threw an error code right when I was about to refill with hp ink for the first time. Fixing it costs more than the printer. Awful piece or thrash. Never again, hp

@rose like Boeing with McDonnell Douglas, corporate ate engineering.

@alfabravoteam Printers are a race to the bottom. Consumer rarely looks at operating costs, so makers have to make their nut on consumables. They all do it, though Epson has made noises about swimming against the current.

My first printer - ~1980 - required special aluminized paper and worked by using electric current to blow off the coating to expose the black paper underneath. The brevity of its lifetime, and that of the company that made them, is the stuff of legends.
