On Monday 23 March, Prof. Paul Wouters - on behalf of the international evaluation committee - presented the evaluation report “Open Science NL in its formative years” to NWO President Marcel Levi. Wouters presented the report during the festive celebration of Open Science NL’s third anniversary.
Open Science NLThe evaluation committee, led by Prof Paul Wouters, is clear in its conclusion:
"OSNL’s performance to date is immensely impressive. It merits strong commendation for delivering not just projects, but a working model of national culture change that others in Europe, and beyond, can learn from."
The committee praises the rapid progress Open Science NL has made: from ambition to concrete implementation, with a strong and cohesive portfolio in the areas of infrastructure, community empowerment, incentives, monitoring, and more.
In this regard, the committee emphasizes Open Science NL's unique role as a “system shaper”: a place where Dutch research institutions collectively shape what open science means in practice.
I am so pleased with and also very honored by the report. There is so much to be gained from it that can and will help us take the next steps in the years to come. For and together with the communities. Nationally and internationally.
