We started the journey from Ulm to Osnabrück in ICE612 well: seat reservations work, the train is on time.

Then the problems began: some kind of infrastructure fault near Geislingen West meant we came to a stop. Then the journey has been at varying speeds, culminating in track changes and a stop before Bad Cannstatt.

We are now 20 minutes late.

We’ve made up a bit of time due to a planned dwell in Mannheim being shorter than needed and no problems on the Riedbahn!

Sadly the contactless payment system in the BordRestaurant wasn’t working: so I had to walk from 5 > 10 > 5 > 10 > 5 to collect the physical card to slide into the card reader…

Still, managed to get coffee and a cold drink

In the end the train made up 11 minutes so got to Osnabrück 9 minutes late. For such a long journey, and given the train went through Stuttgart, Mannheim, Cologne and the Ruhrgebiet it could’ve been much worse!

Anyway checked into the hotel, did a bit of shopping and now grabbing a coffee. Seem to be really struggling with getting a coffee without dairy - not used to it.

No, you can’t drink coffee… Caffeine isn’t good for you
