What's something good that's happened to you this month? - sh.itjust.works

Life has decided to unconsensually fuck me and the people I care about up the ass. I could use some stories about the joy and wins of my fellow Fediverse users.

I overpaid my taxes and got 3300€ back.

Also, yesterday my customer blew my mind by telling me that he’s a literal rocket engineer by profession. Then I blew his mind by knowing the difference between Ramjet and Scramjet. He gave me that impressed Obama meme look which stroked my ego.

oh hey me too! i got like 4500€ back by not having a job for the past six months so i fell down a tax bracket. every silver lining has a cloud.
I just have a shitty bookkeeper who I paid to screw up my taxes.
I was able to get my mom a “new” computer for free because a friend was upgrading from his 2020 mac mini. Probably the newest computer she has had since the 90s. That has felt nice. She already had a cheap refurbished iPhone and iPad so it felt nice to give her the full Apple experience with a newish mac with an M1 processor. Bonus: my first chance to play around on Apple silicon while getting it prepped for her. We are both poor so this is a pretty big deal for us both. (My sister, who is doing a little better than us, had bought her the phone and iPad.)

ha check out this guy, caring and loving for important people in his life!

/s - thats a wonderful thing to do for your mother

I found a forum where I can talk about suicide without anyone shitting on me or shoving motivational cheap crap down my throat, that’s good, it feels good to have place where I can talk openly about it.
Mind sharing where you found it? Asking for a friend.
Sanctioned Suicide - Wikipedia

You were able to get in? The screening process is really prohibitive. Also jfc, there is a LOT of teenagers in there. The implications of that are dark
Okay but they also encourage suicide which is not what someone who’s suicidal needs.
They don’t, this Wikipedia description is exaggerating, even tho they allow to talk about methods openly.
I passed the PMP (Project Manager Professional) exam. I’m really hoping it leads to a real job, I’m desperate.
Uh… hmm… um… well, I didn’t die. I mean nothing bad has happened, so that’s good, right?
It’s always good to assess the current state, look for the wins, and be prepared for the losses. Some days, this is the most you can hope for.
There was a wooded area that got devastated by a tree disease so I got some stuff together and planted new ones of different local types.

I love soccer and this month has been a banger of live soccer for me. Bonus was one of my favorite players scoring during my chant ⚽

for the last few years it’s been building up, I started a chant at the 24 minute mark to celebrate the team and they all know me for it. They have come close and try to get a shot off but last weekend was the day it finally found the net, right as I was wrapping up the chant. I look forward to giving that guy a big shout out next game

Closed on our old house. The sale was delayed after the cleaners we hired managed to flood the bathroom and cause $10k in damage. But insurance didn’t cheat us and covered most of it. We got all repaired, got it on the market, and finally closed last week.

We’ve been in a nerve wracking few months where we’ve owned two houses and been paying two mortgages simultaneously, so it’s a huge relief to be done. With the funds from the old place we paid off a car loan and put the rest to the mortgage on the new place. We’ve now settled into a nice state where our housing cost is about 11% of our gross income. So yeah, it’s been a stressful few months, worrying if the bottom was going to fall out of the market while we were holding two houses. But that didn’t happen, and now we’re sitting quite pretty.

I had a jump pack in my car when a friend’s battery suddenly died without warning.
I’ve lost enough weight to no longer be type II diabetic.
Hell yeah! That’s awesome!
The shitbox I live in is getting a new roof. And not just any roof. A metal one.

Money is not overly abundant currently. Today we got a notice in the mail from our landlords that our rent is being lowered by 20 bucks a month (yes, you read that right, lowered) and we have been overpaying on our utilities so we’re getting some money back which, incidentally, can then go directly to our upcoming electricity payment haha.

That felt like things working out nicely out of the blue.

I went to the local science center for the first time in probably 20 years. Was a lot of fun to see how much has changed and what has stayed the same.
Realized I’d dropped a cup and band size and that’s why my bras all felt terrible. New bras yay! My wallet cries, but it feels nice?
