Tesla and SpaceX announce $25B ‘Terafab’ chip factory — here’s why it reeks of desperation

Tesla and SpaceX announced 'Terafab,' a $25 billion chip fab in Austin targeting 1 terawatt of compute. It's Battery Day on steroids — and even less realistic.

@mhoye not to mention the knowledge base just doesn't exist to expand to this scale. TSMC imported hundreds of engineers with years, maybe decades of experience in some cases, to build the fab in Arizona. There aren't enough people in the world that know how to do this, and companies like Samsung and TSMC aren't going to let them go work somewhere else without a fight. Learning from the ground up takes so much longer than Musky has time for. He's not patient, and won't understand why it takes so long to develop the workforce. He's out of his depth. Sigh....
