Mac OS X 25th Anniversary: The OS That Saved Apple

Apple shipped the first release of Mac OS X on March 24, 2001.

@lefebvre Very few things in computing were as exciting (to me). Many, from Apple, happened circa OS X: G4 processors, titanium PowerBooks, the iMac; not to mention (less exciting to me) the iPod. Will there ever be anything to compare to that incredible series of product releases? Power to the user, not the cloud provider.

@8r3n7 I had the public beta release of OS X and it was indeed beta.

It crashed regularly, but still felt exhilarating to use. One person who was a Microsoft die-hard, came to my house, played with it, and decided to switch to a Mac after trying it out.
