The story behind the story is that the "mainstream" press in the US is now 100% billionaire-owned / controlled.
Reporters are selected for compliance and including "both sides". True investigators and speakers to power are weeded out.
Even the most liberal news personalities (Rachel Maddow, for example) would be considered moderate conservatives in any other country.
The closest to true journalists remaining in the US are indie press reporters and late-night talk show hosts.

She was a huge contributor to the rise of fascism in this country, just by being a lockstep partisan.
American media is part of the Fascist machine.
