Wired!: My brother #printer was out of color inc but plenty of black. The brother.com told me to check the display. If it shows "print B/W" press this, if not buy color inc!
Further web search showed a crazy hint: tape it there. And it works! All show 100% (big smile, I still have a hand full of larger black inc. That will last years now)
