Did you know? خون (blood) donations are essential every day, not just during crises. 🩸
By giving blood, you’re giving someone a second chance at life. Be a hero in your community—donate if you can.

@offelia There are some countries where you can sell your blood, like it was a commodity like any other.
This is capitalism at it's worse, selling parts of your body to survive.
Should not be allowed if you ask me (even if you don't ;-) )
@MMRnmd I understand your point. It’s a sensitive topic, and there are strong arguments on both sides—about ethics, safety, and ensuring enough supply. What do you think would be a better alternative?

@offelia Well, in France, for example, selling your blood is just not allowed and I'm gonna check but I doubt we have ever had shortages in "blood banks" (see, just using this word 'bank' makes people consider it as a merchandise).

When there are big or deadly accidents, people rush to give their blood.

I think it's because since we can learn, we always have considered giving your blood for free as a civic action, bit like sharing a piece of bread when you see a beggar, or giving your seat when an elderly enters the bus.

But if you have been raised in a country where money is the measure of everything and you've always seen homeless or junkies (before aids) selling their blood, it will seem a normal thing to you.

Education is the key to so many evils and disasters.
It is cheaper to raise a kid correctly than to fix a broken adult, no ?
