Long thread coming!
This book was published after a project by Choan Gálvez originally published as a series of videos on YouTube/Instagram and the publication of their corresponding tablatures on Patreon.
The idea was to create a modern repertoire that would help #ukulele players progress in their fingerpicking adventures.
The series opened with this video, "Tenderness", in February, 2019.

_50 Miniature Studies for Ukulele_ was the first book we published under the The Ukulele Bookshop label.
It's been five years of that release!
And, as of March 2026, the digital edition is nicely discounted on our #ukulele #book shop: https://www.theukulelebookshop.com/p/50-miniature-studies-for-ukulele/

50 Miniature Studies for Ukulele is a set of short pieces, about one-minute long each, created by Choan Gálvez to develop a variety of musical performance abilities and fingerpicking techniques. All of these studies are written for C6 re-entrant tuning and can be played on any sized instrument
Study No. 2 is "Angel Island". In @choan 's words:
"Technical studies should be interesting to play and hear."
We say he nailed it with this one.

No. 3 is a campanella arrangement titled "Salt del Grill", after a small cascade in Catalunya.

"Air on the C String"—fourth in the series—presents a simple melody played entirely on the C string, using just one finger to fret the notes. The accompaniment is a repeating two note chord played on open strings.
The challenge? Get expressive by using dynamics and tempo changes.

Study No. 5 is "Drama-in-the-box", one of many where the melody is interspersed in the arpeggios and the performer must carefully accentuate selected notes to make such melody sing.
