Oil “demand destruction”

🚶‍♀️walk to work if you can
🚲 cycle to work if you can
🚋 use public transport more
🚗 drive less
✈️ fly less
👩🏻‍💻 meet online more
🏡 work from home more

Also this will radically reduce emissions from transportation.

This is a win-win

@peterdutoit eat fewer animal products, buy less and 2nd hand if you can, vote for politicians who will support public transport, carbon taxes etc.
@peterdutoit An ebike is a very good option & doesn't have to be hugely expensive. We share one with:
- 3 speed internally geared rear hub, which is all it needs. Stop at lights & just twist to the right gear.
- Big rear mount basket for cargo
- bafung 250w mid drive motor - very smooth application of pedal assist power. Assist winds back at 25km.
- hydraulic brakes.
- 460Wh battery - starts to fade after 70km of fairly flat riding.
- 50mm tyres to absorb small bumps
It cost us AUD2600 = USD 1800 (including Australian taxes)

- nice bonus on this one: belt drive - very quiet & clean.
You don't need shock absorbers on it in my opinion- the 50mm tyres absorb road bumps.
It's a nice, affordable car alternative & took my 65yo wife 22km on Saturday afternoon.
