Stores the userβs birth date for age verification, as required by recent laws in California (AB-1043), Colorado (SB26-051), Brazil (Lei 15.211/2025), etc.

Can i not use age verification in systemd if i dont live in usa?
You can even not use it if you live in the US. Thereβs nothing that enforces you put a date in there (and nothing to verify if itβs correct, which is why people say itβs not age verification).
For now. Letβs not pretend this doesnβt lay groundwork for goverment to require id verification.
Sure, but the slippery slope fallacy is still a fallacy. If it suddenly does become required, fork the thing. Or better yet: focus your attention on the shitty lawmakers who are pushing for this.
Sure, I dont have a problem with them following the law, all the blame falls squarely on the law makers. That being said I dont think itβs wrong to call out where I believe this is intended to lead. If you waste your time defending stupid regulations weβll only be divided when it gets worse.
