caved, and bought Crimson Desert on PS5, downloading now. 85GB! I played Black Desert Online for three years and I like Pearl Abyss as a developer and this looks pretty much like a single player version of that game

I never played a game with as big a world as BDO, it was phenomenal. no fast travel* and it took an hour to sail across the ocean, and you could literally get lost in the desert

*well technically there is fast travel but you needed one of the rarest items in the game to do it. that may have changed now but when I last played the Archaeologist's Map was really hard to get, literally days of grinding for the 0.000000001% chance to get the pieces to drop. I'll never forget the feeling when I finally made it and people saw the server announcement

@COMPU73E Have fun! Still waiting for my copy to arrive, can't wait! I don't know how viable it really is but I'll try to avoid fast travel. First patch just has been released today and they've already fixed many issues, so that's great. I won't be watching any "get overpowered early in the game" videos - some really sound like some of these silly anime titles on crunchyroll 😄 - but I did leave Twitch running in the background for some free outfits, drop campaign runs until tomorrow if you'd like to get them: https://event.pearlabyss.com/en-US/CrimsonDesert/Drops

@chris it was reading the patch notes, plus some posts on a forum from people playing the game and sharing stories, that pushed me over the edge into buying it earlier. it's finally downloaded now so I'll start tomorrow

I haven't watched any guides or how to's, so I'll be playing completely blind and just seeing what happens, it sounds like a great game to just mess about in

@COMPU73E Same here. The biggest draw for me is the serendipity and exploration. Following a Youtube guide to find the best gear or an 'optimal' progression route kinda defeats the purpose for me. I consider the game to be more of an Elder Scrolls type of game - somewhere where I can walk around logging, gathering, plucking flowers for hours and occasionally obliterating some bandit camps 😄
