Again a bit too late for me, but I couldn't stop playing Trails in the Sky as I was at the very end.
Gonna feel this tomorrow, but it was worth it.

Had real trouble with the final boss again and after 2 more failed attempts I selected the "try again at a lower difficulty " as I didn't want to leave this game sit there as was getting frustrated.

Got him on my first try that time and it actually was too easy that way.
Oh well.

I did not see that ending coming at all.
I was warned about it, yet I was completely off with how I thought it might go.
So glad I won't have to wait very long to play the continuation as I can't imagine having to wait 4 years like with the original PSP localisation in Europe.
That would have driven me crazy!
Especially since we already had to wait nearly 5 years after Japan got it and they got the sequel the year after.
Pure torture for that localisation!

@outofprintarchive aaaah! finally you did it! what did you think of the scene where Alba/Weissman reveals all to Joshua? the music that plays still gives me goosebumps...

and the heartbreaking scene on the roof of the castle. Poor Estelle 😭

now you know why I love her so much, instead of wallowing in self pity she's like "I'm just gonna go and get that IDIOT back"

shines like the sun, I love her

just how hype are you for SC now

@COMPU73E

That was creepy as hell.
From the moment he showed up you could tell something was really off.
But I'm blown away by how far it went.
You could see something was up with Joshua's past and that he's been through a lot, but not to that extent!

That scene on the roof was truly heartbreaking.
I'm glad he decided not to hide his past though and face it head on.
I can understand why he wants to do it on his own as he doesn't want to endanger Estelle, but still.

But yeah, her reaction to it was perfectly in character. 😄

The trailer looks insane in the best way possible as well.
It was a bit weird seeing it only in English when I've spent the whole game with them talking Japanese.
The voice acting on Japanese was absolutely perfect btw. everyone fit 100%.

I've already decided that I'm taking the day off when it releases and since the week after is my birthday, I might try to take that whole week off as well, if I have enough days left by then. 😅

@outofprintarchive I'm so glad you got to the end without it being spoiled, as it's one of the best ever JRPG endings imo. the way they fake you out when you beat the final boss and think "well that's it, on to the next game, lemme just play this happy little epilogue, wrap everything up and roll credits" and then they drop ALL THAT on you. Weissman, Oroboros, Joshua leaving, Estelle's broken heart

there's never been a better setup for a part 2, I just watched the trailer for SC again and I'm so pumped

SC is just an amazing experience after playing FC as you're so invested in the story and these characters. it also has the start of one of the best side stories in the series imo, one that carries right on into Trails from Zero

@COMPU73E

It really was masterfully done and I'm having a hard time thinking of another game that does it this well.

Going from everything is going to be alright, we just have a couple of loose ends with the military and sky pirates to tie up, to you don't know how deep this rabbit hole actually goes and what has been going on behind the scenes for decades now...
I'm wondering what happened in those other countries now, going by that little snippet.
I guess I have plenty of games left to learn all about it. 😅

I do want to play them in order now, so I'm gonna hold off till Second Chapter.
Perhaps play an Ys game in the meanwhile.

I did play quite a bit of Zero, but when I met Estelle, it felt like I would get much more out of it if I played TiTS first, so I put that on hold.

The connection with the characters really is what makes it so special.
Same for me with film.
The Last of Us is a great example, as is Evangelion.
