@ewout They had a very, very strong sense that they were the Newtons of society, and that just as Newton's discoveries and methods had brought the physical world fully within our comprehension and under our control, so their methods would do the same for the world of social relations. They were constantly comparing themselves to Newton.

They also are not related. But interestingly, they were alive at almost the same time and there weren’t that many of them.
