Dutch friends! May I borrow your eyes?

I am making a typeface and including a Dutch 'IJ' for the first time. Would you mind looking at these samples and telling me if my IJ makes sense or looks wrong in any way?The font is all uppercase and there are two versions of every letter, including the IJ, hence the two images.

Thank you so much!

#IJ #DutchIJ #wip

@beach it looks quite allright to me!
@beach First one could be mistaken for a U, to my eyes. I feel I have to read some words twice to understand them. Second one is clearer in that regard.
@beach great fonts! i personally prefer the ij in the left one, it reads easy, and as one letter. in the right one it feels more constructed: is it one or two letters? i stumble a it bit while reading.
@beach pretty much what @evanby said above. But I'm not dutch, and that might make a difference.
@beach The one on the left looks fine. The one on the right with serif looks a bit weird to me
@antoinnesterk @beach Yes, seconded! The left one looks better.
@beach Dutch speaking/reading tooter here. The left looks better. It's also clear it's a Dutch "ij", it would not be confused as s U, although I might want to have the left hook of the J slightly shorter, so a little more space between the i and j in vertical position, if that makes sense.
@beach Looks really great! I love that you made an "IJ" specially for us :-). Some comments:
- In "JIJ", I feel that the gap between J and IJ is too big. (both pictures)
- In the first picture, the IJ looks a bit like an U, and I think it is because of the "flag/serif" on the J. It looks a bit uncommon.
- The second picture is very readable to me!
