It’s just “Ukraine”. No “the” necessary. Swapping other counties makes the awkward sentence construction obvious, i.e.:

“Born in the Mexico…”
“Born in the France…”

It doesn’t make sense, and was originally used by Russia to deprive Ukraine of an autonomous national identity like other nations are afforded.
