Guys, I need help naming a sweet, protective, very duty-minded Alien from a blue amphibian race without sex/gender (they produce asexually)

His human counterpart/LI is named Caleb, and I really want an A name for him, but Ayen, Aylen Aylyn etc. all sound like 'Alien' :') And Aydin sounds like some American kid born in 2010....

I really want A, Y and either N or L in the name... Any ideas?

@ludovica Ayalan?
@ruemaleficent I'm seriously thinking about going with Ayal tbh
@ludovica What about Allyn, pronounced similarly to Alan.
@StarkRG same problem as Aylyn, which was my first choice, it's just a bit too close to the word 'Alien' :')
@ludovica Well, lean into it, then. Have it be a name given to it by people who can't pronounce their real name, so they went with "Alan the Alien". Or reverse it, and call them Neila.
@StarkRG I did think about Neila 😂 But that's just a little too feminine for what I have in mind. I think I'll go with Ayal or Ayel... Ayel feels pretty good
@ludovica What about "Neil A" as if the A was a surname initial. Maybe even give them an A surname . Maybe make it "Neil Alien" for some palendromic fun.
@StarkRG He is just absolutely not a 'Neil' in my head 😅 However, very fun idea for an Alien Invasion/Infiltration story

@ludovica
What about Dashiell or Dashielle? It’s “primarily masculine” but is given to girls more and more.

Also gives you the nickname Dash.

From Google:
> Dashel (often spelled Dashiell) is a primarily masculine name of French origin, likely derived from the Norman surname de Chiel, which is believed to mean "from heaven" or "sky". It is a modern, stylish choice often associated with literary sophistication, famously used as the pen name for author Dashiell Hammett.

@smito Those are too human, I need this to be very otherworldly, but thank you!

@ludovica

Niyalna?

@smito too feminine, but extremely pretty, do you mind if I steal that name for a different character/story?

@ludovica

A Real Name or Not real? If Not real:

Rayn?

Geysar?

Ylwan?

@NoRestfortheWicked Ylwan is great, but doesn't work for this specific character. I'd steal that for another one though, if you don't mind!

(I want to work with non-real names for the Aliens in this story, specifically names that have been "dumbed down" because humans wouldn't be able to remember or pronounce the full name)

@ludovica
Of course i don't mind :)

Hmm, that sounds interesting. But maybe a "translation" of it?

You know, like human names have meaning, maybe here is also the case?

And i think it's funny If the name is long and windy and the translation would be like: the cuddly one

@NoRestfortheWicked I do love that kind of thing! I'm maybe going to use that, something like ''Ayel'anay'ogeogh" meaning "the one who offers help with a smile" or something
@ludovica
You know, that it will turn into "smiley" as Nickname ;)
@ludovica well, my first thought was, "why not reverse part of the letter order? Aynyl?" and that's not really a goer 😔
@villainousfriend Exactly, I either end up with "Alien" or with "Anal" 😂
@ludovica have you checked out name generators? Mithril and Mages was my go-to for years but it's been defunct for some while now.
