Maeve Sounds like the same person who offered me a phone. I don’t know their situation. I know what they’ve told me. These events don’t inspire trust. Fwiw, trying to send you a gift card from the USA failed for me, multiple times.
Thanks for trying! The thing is, this person managed to send me a £15 amazon card as a tester. It worked just fine. And many many times they’ve emailed to ask over and over “What gift cards would you like?” And I’ve said, amazon as we know you can make it work. But they don’t come through and keep asking again, “What gift cards would you like?” If they were serious they would just do the amazon one again and let that be that. Did this person contact you on lemmy or through email?
Of course you are welcome. On Lemmy a few months ago. They said they had some rather serious unexpected health concerns arise.
Was that used as a reason not to send the promised help? Also did they under-use punctuation, as the person who has been doing this to me tends to let sentences run on with no full stop between them sometimes.
Yes and idk. It was a long time ago. I just figured they might be a snitch and won’t reply to them anymore.
It sucks that so many mutual aid responders are like this. Last year it was such a big problem at hexbear that there was a whole incident about it, a thread with lots of people saying things like this had happened to them and the mods getting involved. Even on communist websites there are people who want to make other poor peoples’ lives a misery.
KalashnikovSome people are weird. And many of those weird people are on the internet. As always, do not give out personal information to random strangers on the internet and you will be fine. And don’t click suspicious links. And definitely do not meet up with random strangers on the internet.
I wasn’t planning on doing any of those things, the point is it’s just extremely frustrating and disappointing being led on like this for two months.
Be careful. They may be running some kind of phishing operation trying to get you to dox yourself.

小莱卡Unfortunately the current person doing this seems to be using a throwaway email address, without their name on it and hasn’t told me their lemmy user name so there’s nothing to be done about it.
