i feel so bad for that air traffic control guy who made the mistake at La Guardia. it wasn't his fault, it's a shitty system and he was given an impossible task. just a horrible, horrible situation, caused deliberately by the motherfuckers in charge of the federal government.
a bunch of dedicated, hardworking people died because the fucking Republicans didn't see fit to fund safe air travel, even as they spend billions and billions of our tax dollars lobbing missiles at Iran.
(there's no way that crew or the firefighters in that truck survived. plane t-bones a firetruck going 120mph, it's amazing it wasn't worse.)
@peter yeah I thought the same

@peter

It's quite possible to die from injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.

@peter I hope it remains that way, but the fire truck was likely built for collisions that the aircraft was not
@peter only the pilot and copilot killed from what I read
@blueemu yeah, but we'll see. a mess like that seems like it will take time to untangle.
@blueemu oh i guess they were ok. that's good. fucking crazy.
@peter I’ve been thinking about him all morning, just the worst possible feeling of guilt and sorrow because he clearly was working his ass off and realized almost immediately that he’d made a mistake
@mkristensson he should be able to retire with a pension and fully-covered mental health support. no reason we should lose another person over this shit.
