New, from me: The federal government is required to track job satisfaction among its employees. The Trump admin stopped collecting the data, so a nonprofit stepped in. The results show that a collapse in morale and zero trust in Trump agency leaders. 🧵 donmoynihan.substack.com/p/federal-em...

A new survey shows collapsing federal employee morale

Can We Still Govern?
I know its tempting to say "well we already knew this" but in fact we did not have this data for a reason, which is the Trump administration did not want this data point showing how poorly they are managing their agencies. Here are the headline findings. donmoynihan.substack.com/p/federal-em...
Engagement scores (which measure job satisfaction & whether they would recommend their org as a place to work) went from the 70s to 32 overall. Never seen numbers like this even in the first Trump term. And the survey occurred after the main wave of exits. These are the people who chose to stay.
Less than 1 in 10 of the federal workforce believe the leaders of their agency have integrity, are motivating employees, or can be trusted. Again, this did not happen in the first Trump term. This is a reflection of what these leaders have done in office. donmoynihan.substack.com/p/federal-em...
No-one likes to admit they are struggling to perform. But federal employees who are closest to the public services they deliver are likely to say that their unit's performance is worse than last year. donmoynihan.substack.com/p/federal-em...
Only about 1 in 5 employees say they think they could engage in calling out wrongdoing without retribution. A scared workforce is bad for accountability. donmoynihan.substack.com/p/federal-em...
