If the game is rigged. How can you expect to win? I feel a sense of urgency for mainstream politicians and media to wake up and start the move away from only using the algorithmically manipulated billionaire socials, before the coming onslaught with large sums in support of "the resistance".

It's a well established fact in several studies, that these algorithms favour far right content and nurtures conflict, not democratic discourse.

The @EUCommission, @bundestag and @Bundesregierung have been commendable in laying the first foundations πŸ’ͺπŸ€©πŸ™Œ for this shift by their active participation in the Fediverse. 🀘 πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡Ί

But what about our leading politicians? What about various parliaments and goverments around Europe? Like my own in Sweden.

@leanderlindahl @EUCommission I saw that the political party Volt recently set up an account on Mastodon: https://mastodon.social/@VoltEuropa@mstdn.social . I also one of their local chapters active on Loops: https://loops.video/@Volt_Berlin . So there has been some progress, and it needs to be celebrated. πŸŽ‰ 1/3

@leanderlindahl @EUCommission
However high-level national and EU political representatives still seem to stick to US big tech platforms, possibly under the assumption that: β€œit is where people are”, or due to reluctance to embrace something new. It is also a bit disappointing to see high-level EU politicians active on BlueSky, yet shun away from Mastodon. 2/3
@leanderlindahl @EUCommission BlueSky, as a reminder, is US-based, and owned by crypto VCs, so thinking that it cannot en****tify, or take the same path as Twitter, to me it feels a bit short-sighted. 3/3
