37y is a bit more than "about 25"

@PeterSommerlad I guess you're in the or more part :)

@meetingcpp

together with all the youngsters that only know standard C++ :-)

@PeterSommerlad @meetingcpp Only 34 years for me, 32 years as full time work. Will I ever catch up?
@rollbear @PeterSommerlad @meetingcpp I learned C++ as a student for a project in 1992, IIRC. I started an internship programming in C++ in 1994, but I only started in my first real C++ job in 1999.
@sbi @PeterSommerlad @meetingcpp My intro was a 1992 summer job that I screwed up so miserably that I was saved by the company going bankrupt before they could see my utter failure.

i was playing around with C++ in 1989(or88) using either Zortech-C++ or Turbo-C++ iirc. real job ftom 1990 at Siemens, working on a C++ iDE in C++(cfront) with some detours using a C-macro based OO language called OBER.

Knowing C very well before helped a lot then, but today would be a hindrance.
