We now live among these voices from nowhere that can cozen us, deceive us, flatter even - without ever having a thought. It’s already spooky before you even consider the propaganda, the cognitive and socio-economic harms, the threats to democracy, or the damage to the environment. And our language is so ill-suited to speaking about them objectively.
