It's late March, and #NYC skaters are easing into the new #InlineSkating season.
Empire Speed have rolled a couple Sunday sessions on the Prospect Park loop, but they always start early. In a few weeks they'll also be training on the CP loop on Thursday evening.
For the rest of us, it's just a week to the first Wednesday Night Skate of 2026.
The NJ Monday Night Skate will also start soon, although they rolled a pre-season event a few weeks ago when the weather was fine.
And…
Mid-April, the Central Park Dance Skaters will start their weekend sessions on the Dead Road.
It was a harsh winter, so watch out for the potholes.
But it's time for everyone to emerge from their dens. See you on the streets!
Of course, the Empire Tuesday Night Skate rolled all winter, as did the Unofficial Wednesday Night Skate.
There were some sad, wet or snowy weeks when the groups re-scheduled to Monday or Thursday, or when Smiley was the only person who showed up. Hopefully now all that will be back to normal!
