The shortest sentence in all of Scripture is two words.
Jesus wept.
The Church gives us the raising of Lazarus on the 5th Sunday of Lent — right before Holy Week. Before palms. Before the Passion. Before the empty tomb.
And before the command, “Come forth,” there are tears.
Jesus knew Lazarus would rise.
He knew death would not have the final word.
And that’s exactly why the tears matter.
He does not weep from ignorance.
