I don’t understand why people named Timothy would shorten their names to β€œTim” when β€œMoth” is quite clearly the superior choice.
I am loving how many people named "Tim" are boosting this post, that makes me so happy.
@monkeyninja I work in technology. They'd just call me. "Moss."
@timjclevenger I definitely have both my Moss days and my Roy days...and once a blue moon a Richmond day.

@monkeyninja Uno-reverse them and call them "Timberly".

Also, pretend you thought Kim is short for Kimothy.

@monkeyninja one person in my life has called me Mothy, and I quite liked it. I’ve never consciously chosen to be called β€˜Tim’, now I think of it. Perhaps I should seize some agency over this.
@swisslet I love this.
@monkeyninja my dad calls me Timothy, but basically nobody else. That’s my β€˜official’ name, but as I say, now I think of it, I never consciously chose β€˜Tim’, but here we are (I’m definitely not a Timothy).

@ratcatcher I was not aware of their existence until just now but I am delighted that someone is using "Moth" as their abbreviated first name, this is lovely.
Timothy Roscoe (Mothy)

Timothy Roscoe (Mothy)

@monkeyninja @FrazzledBrynn I have been named Timothy for more than 43 years, and I have never considered Moth as a nickname.

I will from now on.

@monkeyninja With the name of Timothy, I'd want to be contrary and call myself "Tithy" (tie-thy). Feels good on the tongue.
