The night sky is a critical part of the history/heritage of every culture on this planet. Our relationship to the stars, the inspiration we've drawn from them, the fascination/wonder they have given us for uncountable generations is a fundamental part of humanity

Denying access to this not only denies the opportunity to connect with that past and continue its legacy through science and culture, but also denies opportunity for others to find their own growth. Selfish. Short sighted. Sociopathic.

Closing metaphorical doors and pulling up metaphorical ladders behind us is the opposite of civilisation.

Doing that for any reason is unconscionable. Doing that for short term, unnecessary gain that benefits few is just self-destructive from a societal perspective.
