Oh, my. Changed my OS and lost much data by badly copying a backup. So, good news : my work is saved (thanks, Nextcloud), but I've lost a looot of passwords. Still reconfiguring my fresh install atm.

I tested two distros : Bazzite❤️ , very user friendly (bazaar is sooo good!), an excellent entry point for linux newcomers. But it missed something I needed, so...

I left Manjaro for CachyOS (,btw). I HATE octopi, but at least that's a GUI for app management, and I got Bazaar❤️ for flatpaks!

@Bara_Coded i need to try some more distros and get my PCs off Windows. I haven't tried these yet so I'll look at those next.

@Jawnuffin I'd use Bazzite if you want a reliable, performant and user-friendly distro. Its immutable model makes it great for people looking for stability, but it'll be harder to find niche apps on it.

If you're tech-savvy, you could try Cachy-OS, it requires a bit more confidence with nerd skills but it is less complicated than it seems. The AUR + Flatpaks make it easier to find niche software, even though Octopi's interface (GUI app manager) is a crime to UX design. Smooth gaming there, too.

@Bara_Coded I'm always just surprised when FOSS has anything approaching decent UI and UX lol. It's hard to complain since it is usually made volunteers but I also feel like it holds back adoption from less tech savvy people so there's never really a challenge to corpo bullshit.
@Jawnuffin That's why I'm impressed by Bazzite's flatpak appstore, Bazaar. It's gorgeous, it's simple to use, it works and it's safe. It could not be better thought for beginners.
