I was invited out to Maam last night to hear from the community about the latest news regarding the mining research and prospecting licenses proposed for areas in Joyce Country and Connemara.

Not only does nobody here support the idea for a myriad of reasons namely destruction of the landscape and biodiversity. But this is an invitation to a large multinational mining company to come in and strip our land for massive profits.

There's also the threat that if something goes wrong, it would pollute the lough and so the water supply for Galway City too! This affects more than just our beautiful rural landscape.

We demand the government reject the licenses!

Join us in signing the petition to put pressure on the government of Fianna Fรกil and Fine Gael to listen to the people. Petition link ๐Ÿ‘‰ https://my.uplift.ie/petitions/end-mining-research-in-joyce-country-and-connemara?share=20d25e75-f503-44a8-adb3-961188e9a7f9&source=whatsapp&time=1773256623
